It is the holiday season and the end of 2019, during this time we take a moment to reflect on the community and what we’ve accomplished so far this year. With New Year’s resolutions around the corner we also spend time thinking about what has yet to be accomplished and we begin to implement the next stages of our yearly goals. Since 1963, Arts for Learning San Diego has been dedicated to advocating and providing arts education through an extraordinary range of high-quality in-school and community programming.
Over the years we have adapted with the times, and while the programs have changed from things like taking kids on field trips to working with at-risk youth in juvenile court and community schools, the overarching goal remains the same: delivering a rich variety of arts education programs to San Diego students and communities.
We could not do what we do without financial contributions from this community. Your donations help to provide art supplies, arts-based planning for educators, workshops, community programs, professional development, performances and so much more. This giving season please remember Arts for Learning San Diego and the thousands of children and community members we serve.
Make Arts for Learning San Diego and arts education in this community a priority this year. We’ve seen the decline in arts funding for years, and this one is no different. The studies show that the arts education improve attendance, inspire self-confidence, help students develop self-discipline, expose people to new cultures and viewpoints, provide tools for healthy coping skills, and make students more likely to pursue and succeed in higher educational pursuits.
Only 39% of students in California participate in the arts, let’s make a difference together this year and for years to come.
Sincerely,
Tara Graviss
CEO of Arts for Learning San Diego
